Dawn Drayton joined the Junior League of Toronto in 1982—the planning year of the first JLT Showhouse at McLean House. Her first volunteer placement in the League was “doing her shifts” at the house. Subsequent volunteer placements included New Directions, The Dellcrest Children’s Centre, and member of the board of the Macaulay Child Development Centre, the Private Home Daycare Association, Young Peoples Theatre, the Canadian National Exhibition, The Georgian Bay Association, and the Special Education Advisory Committee of the TCDSB.

In addition to various volunteer placements, Dawn was an elementary and secondary teacher, special education teacher, vice principal and elected school trustee. Her recent pursuits include painting, and volunteering with Canada Blooms.

With a 20 year background in banking and financial planning, Valerie joined the Junior League of Toronto in 2003. Valerie’s involvement in the League includes work with Women’s Habitat Birthday Party Project, 2004 JLT Showhouse Luncheon committee member, fundraising for 2006 Casino Night, and in 2007, Assistant Communications Chair. Valerie has also been involved with the JLT Tea for Teens since its inception four years ago.

Outside her League involvement, Valerie has assisted with the Darling Home for Kids Gala since 2002 and volunteers at her sons’ school in Etobicoke, coordinating an annual publication of children’s literature and art entitled, “In Their Own Write”.
